Privacy Policy — TFI Bus Guide

Last updated: 21 June 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how TFI Bus Guide ("the App", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use our mobile application on iOS and Android (bundle identifier com.tfibusguide.app).

By downloading or using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

Not affiliated with Transport for Ireland. TFI Bus Guide is an independent application. It is not developed, endorsed by, or affiliated with the National Transport Authority (NTA) or Transport for Ireland (TFI). Public transport schedule and real-time data is sourced from the NTA's publicly available GTFS / GTFS-Realtime open data feeds.

1. Who We Are

TFI Bus Guide is published by an independent developer. For any privacy-related question or request, you can contact us at:

Email: usaqcontato@gmail.com

2. Information We Collect

We aim to collect the minimum data necessary to operate the App. The App is offline-first: your preferences and saved data are stored locally on your device whenever possible.

2.1 Information you provide

  • Support communications. If you contact us by email, we receive your email address and the contents of your message.

2.2 Location data

  • With your permission, the App accesses your device's approximate or precise location while the App is in use to find the public transport stops nearest to you.
  • Location is processed to provide nearby-stop results. You can deny or revoke location permission at any time in your device settings; the App remains usable, but nearby-stop features will require manual stop selection.

2.3 Information collected automatically

When you use the App, certain information may be collected automatically by us and by the third-party services listed in Section 4:

  • Device and technical information — device model, operating system and version, language and region, app version, and similar diagnostics.
  • Usage data — interactions within the App, features used, and screens viewed, used to understand and improve the product.
  • Crash and performance data — diagnostic logs and crash reports to help us fix bugs and improve stability.
  • Advertising and analytics identifiers — such as the device advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS / AAID on Android) and similar identifiers, used for analytics and advertising as described below.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide core functionality, including locating nearby stops and showing live and scheduled departures;
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and improve the App's performance and reliability;
  • Understand how the App is used so we can improve features and user experience;
  • Display advertising and measure its performance (see Section 5);
  • Send push notifications and local reminders you have opted into (see Section 6);
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.

4. Third-Party Services and SDKs

The App integrates third-party services that may collect and process information under their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review them:

These providers may act as independent controllers or as our processors depending on the service and your jurisdiction.

5. Advertising and Tracking Transparency

The App is supported by advertising. Our advertising partners (including Google AdMob, Meta, and TikTok) may use device identifiers to deliver and measure ads, including personalized ads where permitted.

  • iOS — App Tracking Transparency (ATT). On iOS, we ask for your permission before tracking you across apps and websites owned by other companies. If you decline, you will still see ads, but they will be less personalized. You can change this at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
  • Android — Advertising ID. The App uses the Android Advertising ID. You can reset it or opt out of personalized ads in Settings → Google → Ads.

6. Push Notifications and Reminders

With your permission, the App can send you notifications:

  • Local reminders that you set yourself (for example, a reminder for a departure). These are scheduled on your device and do not require sending your data to us.
  • Push notifications for service updates, delivered through Firebase Cloud Messaging and the Apple Push Notification service. To send relevant updates, your device may be subscribed to general topics (for example, based on your country or app language); this does not identify you personally.

You can disable notifications at any time in your device settings.

7. Data Storage, Retention, and Local Data

  • Local storage. Your favourite stops, reminders, app preferences, and similar settings are stored locally on your device (using on-device storage) and are not sent to us. This data is removed when you uninstall the App.
  • Retention. Information processed by our third-party providers is retained according to their respective policies and only for as long as necessary for the purposes described here or as required by law.

8. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information for money. We share information only:

  • With the third-party service providers listed in Section 4, to operate the App;
  • To comply with applicable law, legal process, or enforceable governmental request;
  • To protect the rights, property, or safety of our users, the public, or us;
  • In connection with a business transfer (e.g., merger or acquisition), subject to this Policy.

9. International Data Transfers

Your information may be processed and stored on servers located outside your country of residence, including in the United States and the European Union. Where required, transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

10. Your Rights

10.1 European Economic Area, United Kingdom & Switzerland (GDPR)

If you are located in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, you have the right to: access your personal data; request rectification or erasure; restrict or object to processing; data portability; and withdraw consent at any time. Our legal bases for processing are: consent (e.g., location, personalized ads, notifications), legitimate interests (e.g., analytics, security, product improvement), and performance of a contract (e.g., providing requested features and purchases). You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority — in Ireland, the Data Protection Commission (dataprotection.ie).

10.2 California (CCPA/CPRA)

California residents have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request deletion, to correct inaccurate information, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not sell personal information for money.

10.3 Exercising your rights

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at usaqcontato@gmail.com. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law. Many choices (location, tracking, notifications, advertising ID) can also be managed directly in your device settings.

11. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

12. Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice within the App. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
